The Chapter promotes developmental screening in the pediatrician's offices (ages 0 to 8 years of age) to identify children at risk for developmental concerns.
AAP recommended developmental screening tools include:
1. Ages and Stages and ASQ Social Emotional Questionnaires (ASQ): age-appropriate screening tools, parent completed and available in multiple languages.
2. Parents Evaluation of Developmental Status (PEDS): parent completed and available in selected languages
3. The Modified Checklist for Autism in Toddlers (M-CHAT) for children ages 16 to 30 months of age to detect early signs of autism and available in selected languages.
The Chapter will provide the PEDS developmental screening tool at no charge, as well as a limited supply of the ASQ (Ages and Stages) Questionnaires and the M-CHAT tools if you are interested in implementing screening in your office. Please call the Chapter office for more information (949) 752-2787.
